Acai Berry Supplement Side Effects

Acai berry supplements may have side effects that individuals should be aware of. These side effects can include short-term effects like diarrhea, headache, dizziness, lower insulin levels, and inflammation, especially in the mouth, tongue, throat, and lips. Long-term effects may involve jaundice, liver injury, plaque buildup, severe cardiac problems, and blood thinning. Additionally, acai berry supplements that contain certain ingredients like garlic, ginkgo, and feverfew may interact with blood-thinning medications. It is advisable to consult a doctor if experiencing diarrhea, respiratory problems (especially with pollen allergies), or very low blood sugar levels (especially for individuals with diabetes). While acai berries themselves are generally safe when consumed in moderation, excess intake can lead to gastrointestinal problems like diarrhea, stomach ulcers, and nausea.
