Juice Plus Berry Capsules Side Effects

The most commonly reported side effects of Juice Plus Berry Capsules are mild and include gastrointestinal distress and hive-like rash. In one case report, a 51-year-old woman with endometrial cancer experienced elevated liver function tests after taking Juice Plus, which normalized after discontinuing the product. Juice Plus Berry Capsules contain concentrated fruit and vegetable juice extracts, along with added vitamins and nutrients. While they are marketed as a convenient way to supplement one's diet with fruits and vegetables, the actual amount of fruits and vegetables per capsule is quite small. There are some potential interactions to be aware of:

  • Juice Plus may decrease the effectiveness of chemotherapy drugs that rely on free radicals for their mechanism of action. Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy should avoid Juice Plus.
  • Juice Plus may interact with quinolone antibiotics used to treat infections. Patients taking these medications should consult their doctor before using Juice Plus.
  • Juice Plus is not recommended for people undergoing enteral nutrition, which is a method of feeding prescribed by doctors.

While Juice Plus Berry Capsules are generally well-tolerated, some people may experience mild side effects like digestive issues or rashes. More serious interactions are possible for certain medical conditions and medications. Juice Plus does not contain enough fruit and vegetable content to be considered a substitute for eating whole produce.
